I am a PhD candidate in the Lively
Lab whose interest focuses around the evolution of reproductive
behavior. For my projects, I am utilizing Potamopyrgus antipodarum,
a snail species from New Zealand. This species encounters a sterilizing
trematode and I am interested in how this selective pressure influences
(i) mate choice, (ii) the evolution of polyploidy, and (iii) multiple
paternity resulting from polyandry.
I am also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning. I
participated in The Collegium on Inquiry in Action funded by the TEAGLE
foundation. The Collegium brings together four departments from
different knowledge domains, pedagogies, and instructor preparation
methods to integrate efforts to develop teaching skills of graduate
students in a research university context. During my participation, I
created a
portfolio reviewing research I conducted while instructing a lab
section for a course called "Biology for Elementary Education Majors".
You can view this portfolio by going to link
