Melanie Marketon, Ph.D.
Melanie earned her B.S. in Biology with an emphasis in Microbiology and minor in Chemistry from Mankato State University in Minnesota. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from The University of Texas at Dallas, where she studied quorum sensing in Sinorhizobium meliloti in the laboratory of Dr. Juan Gonzalez. She then did her postdoctoral work on Yersinia type III secretion in the laboratory of Olaf Schneewind at The University of Chicago. She joined the Biology Department at Indiana University in 2006, where she continues to study mechanisms of plague pathogenesis.
